A few years ago, we decided to found Glyn’s Fund.  The initial idea was to encourage local people to provide support to resident of Alconbury, Alconbury Weston and the surrounding areas – beit by way of financial contribution either in part or in whole, for the purchase of aids or items to improve the quality of life.  A sense of community was quickly established as a key component in the organisation, boosting memberships greatly!

This culminated in July 2013 when Glyn’s Fund was recgonised by HMRC as UK charity for tax purposes whose consitition states …

To offer support to residents of the villages of Alconbury and Alconbury Weston, and at the sole discretion of the Trustees of The Charity, residents of the villages of Upton & Buckworth, by way of financial contribution either in part or in whole, for the purchase of aids or items to improve the quality of life.

The support of other charitable bodies within the geographical boundaries defined by The Charity, whose purpose is in sympathy with the purposes of this charity.  Such charitable body need not be a charity registered with the Charity Commission, but must be for the good of the greater community within which The Charity is based.
